Via ferrata is a climbing path carved on a steep slope, equipped with steel cables, iron ladders and steps, with special equipment for the most exposed parts. It needs no previous experience, only moderate fitness and no fear of heights.
The route starts from the old bridge of Konitsa on the Aoos river. The approach is easy, on a sloping path secured with steel cables, then impressive ascents on metal steps fixed to the vertical rock. From the highest point the view takes in the Aoos gorge, Gamila peak at 2,497 m, Mount Tymfi, the Stomiou monastery and the bridge of Konitsa. You pass the Agia Varvara monastery and finish with a 40-minute walk to the old bridge.
