Guided Hike to Drakolimni, the Dragon Lake of Mount Tymfi, from Mikro Papigo (9 to 10 hours)

At 2,050 m on Mount Tymfi lies one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Greece, Drakolimni, the Dragon Lake. It covers almost 2 acres and is home to a rare species of alpine newt.

The hike starts from Mikro Papigo in Zagori and takes 9 to 10 hours. The ascent is mostly uphill and of medium difficulty, tiring mainly because of the altitude difference. You can do it in one day or spend the night at the Astraka refuge at 1,950 m, which makes it easier. High peaks, green alpine valleys and the view over Smolikas and the Aoos valley are worth every step.

Bring hiking shoes and clothes, water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a raincoat in case of rain.

Every day from May to September, at 10:00. Duration 9 to 10 hours, moderate. Minimum age 14, with a guardian. Runs with a minimum of 4 people, up to 30.

Smaller groups are welcome too: send a request even for 2 people and Active Nature will add you to an existing group.
