Live the life of a beekeeper for a while by exploring a living beehive. You put on a beekeeping suit, light the smoker and enter the apiary together with the From A to Bee team.
First you learn about the role and importance of bees in the ecosystem and how we can protect them. Then you get to know the tools and equipment of the daily work, watch the worker bees foraging in nature and talk about all the products of the hive. Then comes the hands-on part: what we look for inside a hive, how we find the queen, how we read the dance of the bees and how a populous colony is inspected.
No previous experience is needed. The activity is safe and exciting – just wear long trousers and closed shoes.
Duration: about 60 minutes. Suitable for families and children.
Where: at the From A to Bee apiary in Pallini (Elpidos Pouli 2), easy to reach by metro, bus or taxi from the centre of Athens.
