Between Delphi and Galaxidi, on a small olive orchard whose old stone terraces were painstakingly rebuilt, lies the first apiary in Greece that anyone can visit. Here MoKa Honey invites you to take a deep dive into the life of the honey bee, the insect our lives depend on.
The bee tours are led by people who know bees in depth: Ioannis, a PhD agronomist specialised in insects such as bees, who took over beekeeping from his great-grandfather, and Nick, who spent years leading conservation expeditions in the tropical forests of Belize and Indonesia.
You learn how a colony lives and works, why every small bee does its part for the whole hive and why bees, which pollinate our crops and wild plants, are under threat in Greece and around the world. At the end you taste the award-winning honey of the farm and leave with a small jar of it and, as the MoKa team hopes, as a Bee Ambassador who carries their message further.
A fun, educational experience for all ages, which schools from all over Greece also choose.
Price: 26.50 € per adult and 10.60 € per child. Minimum booking: 2 adults.
Bookings are on request: choose your date, time and number of guests and MoKa Honey confirms your visit.
MoKa Honey is a sustainable, eco-friendly apiary and olive farm in Itea, on the northern coast of the Gulf of Corinth. It was founded by Nikiforos Kalafatis, farm owner and olive oil producer, and Ioannis (John) Moraitis, beekeeper with a PhD in agronomy. Their mission is to show visitors why bees are in decline and why the olive groves and the environment around them are worth protecting. MoKa honey has won awards for its taste and quality since 2016, including Great Taste and London Honey Awards.
