Deos canyon near Metsovo took its name from the awe it inspires: deos means awe in Greek. The river is fed by the snow of Mount Lakmos, also known as Peristeri, and around Easter the volume of water is very high.
After a 15-minute walk you meet the first easy rappels in an open space, then consecutive rappels as the canyon gets narrower and more imposing. The highlight is a 30 m waterfall, followed by an 11 m rappel into a dim space and a 23 m rappel in total darkness. The route ends on a road, with a 45-minute walk back.
What is included
